At Zanger Hall, An Artful Benefit For Haitian Mothers And Their Children

Ambassadors from the worlds of music, art, fashion, politics, and nonprofits filled Manhattan's Zanger Hall last night in support of the Benefit for Haiti, an evening of dinner, dancing, and a silent auction which supported in-the-field programs "Yes We Can For Progress" and "Mommy and Me," nonprofits dedicated to creating sustainable living and educational environments for young Haitian women and their children.

Guests sipped cocktails by Fair Spirit, the first vodka ever produced with quinoa and Fair Trade certified ingredients, while listening to speakers NYC Councilman Matthieu Eugene, Alwantha Lawson, Florence Boucherau Arbouet, and Kathleen O'Hara give tearful and inspiring speeches concerning their charitable work.

Afterward, the winners of the silent auction were announced, and the crowd enjoyed musical performances from Andrea Dee, La Konga Russe, Jason Lisko, Mark Weber, and A Guy N A Girl, which ranged from rock duets, to acoustic guitar, to harpsichord.  Congressional hopeful Joseph Marthone even made a surprise appearance, congratulating organizer Soledad Haren for a successful benefit, and pausing to take photographs with the guests.
