Inside Manhattan Magazine & DELGATTO's Jewelry Event For Dubin Breast Center

by Jina Huh · December 5, 2016

This holiday season, Manhattan magazine partnered with DELGATTO for a lunch to benefit the Dubin Breast Center. Dr. Eva Andersson-Dubin, a breast cancer survivor, co-founded the center at Mount Sinai. Christine Mack co-hosted the charitable event at her Carnegie Hill home. Tall, lean, and poised, Chris Mack kept it simple but chic in a white button-down, blue jeans and black flats. The self-assured hostess greeted guests in her art-filled townhouse.

Guests mingled and looked at DELGATTO's jewelry. Co-hostess Stacey Pashcow, a New York Law School alum, energetically discussed current events. The dynamic real estate pro candidly talked about being a survivor herself. Melissa Breitbart (Director, Charitable Division-Corporate Partnerships, DELGATTO)—with heart on sleeve—shared about her own cancer scare (melanoma) which Allure has chronicled. And about how tremendously fulfilling giving back is.

DELGATTO is the leading brand for the resale of previously owned luxury jewelry—fine diamonds, jewelry and watches. It offered guests the chance to sell the jewelry they no longer wear, and a percentage of those sales would be donated to the Dubin Breast Center. Its founder and CEO, Chris Del Gatto, was a low-key gentleman. In relaxed jeans and a blazer, he graciously let the women enjoy the event. A New York success story, Mr. Del Gatto is from "humble beginnings" and very nice. His wife is barrier-breaker, supermodel Veronica Webb. One senses that there are interesting stories, told in private, about how he came to be where he is.

Dr. Andersson-Dubin, a determined model-turned-doctor, spoke to the group. Her eyes danced as she charismatically shared about the Center's work to help women. (The Center treats a range of patients and accepts Medicaid. It thoughtfully offers massage therapy, and cold cap therapy so women might not lose their hair.) With humor and joy, she relayed that one patient had exclaimed that she never wanted to leave the nurturing environment. Chris Mack loyally interjected to offer to take any guests interested in the Center for a walk-through.
