What's in a theme?

That which we style a rose by any other name would seem just as sweet... no?

For some, last week's Save Venice 50th Anniversary Ball theme was 'Incantesimo al Mare,' bringing about scenes straight from the sea - ocean blues, red corals, and headpieces brimming with pearls, shells and all manner of underwater creatures. For others, perhaps less enthused by the suggested dress code, it was simply Black Tie.

No matter the motif, Casa Cipriani was a sea of New York's most stylish, including Lauren Santo Domingo, Alexandra O'Neill, Laura Kim, Nicky Hilton, Olympia of Greece and countless other society staples.

One of the Social Calendar's most revered events, the annual soirée, which made its triumphant return after a two-year hiatus, certainly did not disappoint. Designer Bronson van Wyck worked his magic and transformed the grand downtown venue into a Venetian escape, complete with colorful gondola poles, a red coral bar, and even a giant clam shell, the perfect stage for taking "shellfies."
