These past few months, a safe place to escape the confines of your apartment has never been more valuable. And no space has welcomed more New Yorkers with wide open arms than the 843-acre haven that is Central Park.

This past Tuesday, the Women’s Committee of the Central Park Conservancy held its first-ever Picnic for the Park - a testament to the group's creativity and commitment to supporting the city's most iconic landmark. The event, which raised over $300,000 and was generously supported by Nordstrom, was socially distanced and spread out across several locations in the Park. From the Conservatory Garden to Belvedere Castle, each spot hosted a small group of Women’s Committee members for an individually packed picnic, complete with pop-up performances organized by NYC Next, a nonprofit that brings together artists.

"The work of the Central Park Conservancy to keep the Park beautiful and clean for all New Yorkers has never been more essential. We are grateful to see such enthusiasm for our first Picnic for the Park event which has raised critical funds to support our work to maintain Central Park as a green retreat from urban life," said Elizabeth W. Smith, President & CEO of Central Park Conservancy.
