10. Los Angeles is planning to have its own Met Ball this weekend. The director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Michael Govan, hopes to raise the caliber of the museum with a red carpet fashion event. The museum aims to be like the Met. It carries a broad collection of art and artifacts, including clothing, furnishings and film.
Terry Semel, a museum trustee as well as the former chairman of Warner Brothers and Yahoo! said,
"It struck us that we are an eclectic museum. Why not do more things with very popular and famous people?"
