The Thursday Fashion Files!

Kate Moss gets a brand new ring, H&M gets eco-conscious and Kenneth Cole gets politically insensitive. Hats make a come back, perms make a come back and old models step back into the spotlight.  And that's just the tip of the fashion iceberg. Dive on in!

    1. Kate Moss is engaged to her boyfriend Jamie Hince of The Kills!!! Here's a shot of the 1920's vintage ring. [The Sun]

    2. Back in the day, a gentleman was not considered properly dressed without a hat. Some historians think the fade out may have been caused by JFK and his lack of head gear, but it's probably just the use of cars. Good news is-hats are back! SO debonair. [NYT]

    3. Kenneth Cole made a MASSIVE gaffe on Twitter this morning using the situation in Egypt to promote his spring line [HuffPo]:

He (or his soon to be unemployed social media person) apologized, saying:

The Internet, not suffering fools or assholes lightly, has set up a fake Kenneth Cole Twitter account [Racked]:

    4. The perm is back! But before you turn screaming away from your NYT Style section, "perm," isn't what you remember from the '80's. It's much more relaxed now and is described as bohemian beach waves, bed head, second-day hair, “hangover” hair or simply “undone.” [NYT]

    5. Vintage is in. Models of yore, Carol Alt, Roshumba, Irina Pantaeva, Pat Cleveland, Carmen Dell'Orefice and Frederique van der WalAdrienne will walk in Vittadini's show on February 16th during New York Fashion Week. [WWD]

    6. Kate Spade is on Tumblr. Hurrah! [KateSpadeTumblr]

    7. With the news of Ikram Goldman's upcoming Legend of Fashion honor comes a series of reports that the Chicago boutique owner is no longer Michelle Obama's unofficial stylist, and that the first lady might be taking wardrobe advice from White House aide Meredith Koop. [HuffPo]

    8. Renowned French shoe designer Benoît Méléard designed footwear for the likes of Loewe, Helmut Lang, Jeremy Scott and Alexander McQueen among others.  For Spring Summer 11, Méléard looked for inspiration to the cult 50s American designer Beth Levine. The shoes are crazy architectural wonders. [Dazed]

    9. The Charles Dickens novel Great Expectations inspired Marchesa designers Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman for fall:

“The collection follows Miss Havisham’s eternal plight with dramatic shades of red, blanche, and noir transformed into three dimensional reappliqued lace, python, leather, and goat skin detailed silhouettes. We wanted to create great expectations of classic opulence, both ethereal and romantic,” they tell us. The photo collage, seen here, gets at their girlish gloomy musings." [In Style]

    10. Would you try this or does it freak you out as much as me? BareEase & Cream is a new bikini wax prep kit that comes with a Lidocaine-based cream and pink latex panties that you put on 30 minutes before getting waxed in order to make your lady parts numb. I mean, maybe I am paranoid, but what if the feeling doesn't come back? [Refinery29]

    11. Jennifer Aniston has joined the fragrance racket. The "sensual, floral, clean" scent has notes of a sad, lonely woman who is sick of being called that in the media. Kidding. Every time Jennifer Aniston is mentioned someone has to make that joke right? It actually smells like Citrus Grove Accord, Rose Water, Jasmine, Violet, Amazon Lily, Musk, Amber, Sandalwood. [Sephora]

    12. Agent Provocateur's new ad is smoking hot. [FFF]

    13. Speaking of sexy. What do you have planned for VDay? Here's some products to get you through the holiday whether you're paired up or single. [Style.com]

    14. The-Coveted.com, a well-established style blog created in 2007 and run by Jennine Jacob, the founder of the Independent Fashion Bloggers Network (IFB) is a legal scuffle with the newly launched TheCoveted.com, a site devoted to photographing the wardrobes and closets of fashion industry insiders  run by Erin Kleinberg and Stephanie Mark. [Racked]

    15. Putting the "show" in runway show. A look at some of the coolest styled runways during Men's Fashion Week in Paris. [BlueIsInFashionThisYear]

    16. On angles wings...Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld in Self Service #8 1998 [Boheme Extreme]

    17. Happy Lunar New Year. Here are some cute things to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit. [Vogue]

    18. Supermodel Helena Christensen says she owes her career to Karl Lagerfeld because he took a huge chance on her when she was starting out:

"I went to Paris for a week after an invitation from an agency. I was so unbelievably lucky - I had baby cheeks, a horrible perm and a weird way of dressing but in that first week, I met Peter Lindbergh and Karl Lagerfeld and they literally booked me for everything for a year. I still walk up to them and say, 'That's incredible that you took the chance on me.' For me, it was, 'If it works out, I get to travel and do photography.' It was never about all the glamorous stuff, like being made up every day. So for many years, I always had my camera in my back pocket and the photographer would be like, 'What's that lump on your butt?' [ContactMusic]

    19. Vince's lookbook is out and has plenty of styles that can move between office and cocktail hour. [Refinery29]

    22. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen celebrated the launch of Textile Elizabeth and James at Tacombi in NYC. Lil Sis and Sundance "It Girl,"  Elizabeth Olsen, was in attendance.[JustJared]

    23. Black winged eyeliner ruled the Chanel couture show in Paris last week. Find out how to crib the look. [Lucky]

    24. This made me giggle. Mark Zuckerberg as Fashion Don't. "Why doesn’t he dress like a billionaire? Motherfucker has $50 billion dollars and dresses like a Cheetos fart in a futon." [NedHepburn]
