Interview: Parme Marin Brings Marrakesh To City Slickers

There are many words that come to mind when meeting Parme Marin for the first time, most of them colorful adjectives. She's well traveled, having spent her life split between Paris, New York, Spain, and Marrakesh. It wouldn't be heresy to consider her jewelry collection an extension of herself - the colors, patterns, and even material are always sourced from different parts of the world. Necklaces and bracelets are made of leather with indigenous beads, stone, and miscellaneous items, most of them one-of-a-kind, all of them made by hand in Morocco by native women. Parme's willingness to educate the women and nurture them through the process, coupled with economic support makes her one of our most respected designers to date. Presenting archives and special pieces at the Park Hyatt last week, she gave us some insight into the collection.
