Hat Care"Hat care is essential if you want to prolong the life of your new accessory. Wool hats, especially darker ones, are easier to take care of because dirt, dust and stains are not seen as easily on them. That said, with New York living, you never know what is in that drop of water from an AC unit or scaffolding. There could easily be brick or dust particles that, when dry, will stain the wool and discolor it. Our Raindri is the best thing to protect your hat from the elements. On top of that, if you were to clean it, a soft-bristled hat brush is the way to go. It will not ruin the nap of the wool when brushed, yet is strong enough to lift and brush and surface particles away."

"When storing it away for off-season time (spring and summer for wool hats), it is always best to store it on the crown inside a box or dust bag. This will keep the hat clean; and by storing it on the crown, nothing will affect the brim shape. The crown is the strongest part of the hat, so if you rest it on the crown, the brim will not run the risk of getting bent out of shape when stored right-side-up. The brim of the Maise Lock is wavy, or broken, so you don't have to worry so much about that! And since this is an American handmade piece, it is meant to last.  If taken care of, this should last for many years to come!"
