Holyland Market

Holyland Market
As indicated by the name, this is another little ethnic eatery that takes you straight to Israel with their authentic tasting bourekas (a puff pastry treat stuffed with meat or vegetables), babaghannish, and hummus. Another combined eatery with prepared, hot food and items you can take home yourself to eat at your own leisure are another perk that this market, on the bustling St Marks place, offers. The bourekas are especially highlighted, offering flavors such as spinach, as well as green olive and cheese. Their pita is always fresh baked, fluffy and hot, and is sold at only $2.50 for a pack of five. Dessert wise, make sure not to miss out on Milky, a chocolate pudding with a frothy topping that they claim is a breakfast food. If this is a breakfast food, we're waking up early every day and heading down to 8th street. They also carry unprepared Israeli goods for you to create your own at home. As raved about by Israeli locals in the area, this is one the closest tastes to Tel Aviv that you can get. Holyland Market 122 St. Marks Pl [Photo via]
