Michael Symon Made Cleveland a Respectable Foodie Scene
-Before garnering fame from the Iron Chef series, Michael Symon had a successful restaurant in Cleveland. The restaurant, Lola, was named as one of the best restaurants in the country by Gourmet magazine. -Symon's continued success with Lolita, the B Spot, as well as the Roast in Detroit helped him earn the James Beard Foundation's Best Great Chef in 2009. -Symon is another prestigious alumnae of the Culinary Institute of America. -He came back to New York in 2006 to open up Parea Bistro. It was listed in Food & Wine as one of the "100 Tastes to Try in '07." -At the Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival from 2010, his "Fat Doug" hamburger, from The B Spot, beat out Bobby Flay for the best burger in America.
