Opening in 1994, The Doughnut Plant is definitely the purveyor of the gourmet donut. Since they're launch they have opened location in Japan and Korea. Their specialty cake donuts offer a different texture than the traditional yeast donut, although they do offer both. Two notable flavors offered are the Tres Leches, and Blackout cake donut. The long line is worth the wait at this donut shop.
