What: Whiskey lovers are a hard to please bunch, which is why most gift givers simply resort to bottles with unpronounceable names from Scotland. But you'd be remiss to overlook the gems hidden in New York. Over the summer we stopped by the Brooklyn Navy Yard to find the hidden gem Kings County Distillery, where we sampled their small batch whiskey over barbecue and Shake Shack/Stumptown affogatos on outdoor picnic tables. The pleasant experience doesn't cloud our memory though; the whiskey was great, and while we were surprised at how smooth the 'moonshine' was, the chocolate whiskey might be the winner for the holiday season.
