Why:
The New York premiere of The Passenger will feature a scenic design that takes advantage of the Armory’s 55,000-square-foot drill hall, juxtaposing scenes of the 1950s journey of a German couple aboard a transatlantic ocean liner alternately with those of Auschwitz prisoners below the deck, including flashbacks to the railway tracks, ovens, and barracks of the camp. Nightly prelude concerts of Weinberg’s chamber music will be performed by the ARC Ensemble at 6:00 p.m. in the Board of Officers Room. Co-presented by Park Avenue Armory and Lincoln Center Festival.
