What's an average day like in the life of Misha Nonoo?
There's no real average day. I would say I wake up every morning with my husband and go to bed with him at night. That's always the same. I tend to get to work between 8:30 and 9:00 in the morning, but I am doing things at home beforehand, like answering emails. Sometimes I have my dog Thatcher with me at work. I'll get a green juice or make one at home, and that starts my day off. I'll start the day going to the garment center, or it might be later in the day, but it will happen.
And then we have business meetings during the day, whether it's press or production or sales, depending on the time of year and the season. And you know now with the way the label has grown so much, people are coming to us more and more. I didn't used to have so many daily meetings, so I'd say that's a big change. I used to be able to just design all day long, and I could just kind of run the business very much all on my own time and whatever suited my own schedule. Now, it's a lot more about scheduling. And you know there is no schedule ahead of fashion week. It's just all over the place.
The thing that changes is that you have to learn to say no. In the beginning, you're like "yes this is great" or "yes I want to do this and I want to do that." You need to figure out what is best for you and what is best at the end of the day for the label.
