Where do you seek inspiration for your designs?
I don't consciously research or search from inspiration, I'm usually more focused on capturing an essence or a feeling, my clothes are rooted in emotion more than anything else. That being said, inspiration is everywhere - layered necklaces on a Masai warrior, Matisse's paper cutouts, Amish color blocked quilts, plains Indian motifs and antiques. Sometimes I channel an individual I love or pictures from my childhood and the past. I had a whole collection once inspired by ex-boyfriends! It was my way of capturing a moment in time, making something cool from the experience, and letting it go - bizarre, but it was a sell-out collection!
