The Oak Room

The Oak Room
Where: 59 West 44th Street The restaurant, located in the Algonquin Hotel, is home to some of the most friendly ghosts. Many guests have spotted members of the Round Table - a group of writers that met for lunch daily at the dining area in the hotel after World War I. They called themselves the Vicious Circle and included Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley, Franklin Pierce, Robert Sherwood, Harpo Marx, Alexander Woollcott, Herold Ross, George S. Kaufman, Heywood Broun, Marc Connely and Edna Ferber. These don't cause any disturbances or bother guests; simply dine in peace in the presence of this celebrated group of 1920s New York City actors, writers, critics, and wits.
