Earthing

A couple of months back, Gwyneth wrote about her new favorite ritual called "earthing." In a nutshell, it's walking about barefoot. It's supposed to be good for the soul, as it connects you to the earth's energy without the barrier of your Manolos in between you and Mother Nature. It can also treat arthritis, depression, and insomnia.

True: This is something Gwyneth did indeed write about. To envelop a practice as simple as walking around barefoot as a New Age-y experience sounds patently ridiculous, but it is actually good for you in a New Age-y sense. Gwyneth didn't mention this, and I honestly know about this from my own New Age douchebag endeavors, but it helps you bring awareness to your first chakra. It's basically a variation of the malasana (squat) pose in yoga where you crouch down on your feet to break apart tension built up in your body. Does it make me less depressed? No, because I'm still a hopeless degenerate, but I'm at least a hopeless degenerate with an aligned first chakra.
