Smart Lunches

We asked SkinnyOffice readers to share their favorite weekday lunches. From the lunches they pack for themselves to their favorite places to grab a quick and healthy bite during the day, here’s what they had to say:
“I make sandwiches on Thomas’ 100-calorie English muffins with turkey, lettuce and mustard. It’s better than a sandwich I’d buy from a deli because they would use a higher calorie bread”- Ashley, 24, Gramercy “Grill a piece of chicken the night before and bring that, some cucumbers, carrots, whatever other vegetables you like, maybe some pretzels, and hummus for dipping! You’ll get protein and vegetables, and it’s easy to bring to work.” – Julie, 28, Upper East Side “Hale and Hearty Soup has locations all over the city and they have a bunch of soup options that are really low-cal.”– Sharon, 23, West Village “Sometimes I don’t have the time or energy to make myself lunch, but I’ll pack a bag of sliced almonds or a few hardboiled egg whites to add onto whatever salad I order for lunch. That way I get enough protein to keep me full throughout the day.”—Anna, 31, SoHo “You can make a tuna salad without the fat by not adding mayo. Slice up onions and tomatoes instead and mix it in with the tuna. Pack some crackers too to put the tuna salad on! Whole Foods also makes a great pre-packaged tuna salad." – Kate, 32, East Village "All the make-your-own salad places are great. I have a Chop’t right near my office, but Tossed, Just Salads, and even many delis also have salad bars with a bunch of options.”—Jenna, 27, Midtown East
