Gay Pride Etiquette

Gay Pride Etiquette:
Here are some tips we'd like people of all sexual orientations to keep in mind so this incredibly wild weekend is memorable for all in attendance. For All: Slang or derogatory terms used in any sense will not be tolerated. Even if the intention is non-malicious, you probably will be lectured by one, if not one-hundred members of the LGBT community. Remember to respect each other, i.e. when attempting to squeeze by the crowds-excuses me gets you a long way. Common courtesy makes for a pleasant experience for everyone. For Straight Men: Remember that even though you're straight, you probably WILL be hit on. Having your girlfriend attached to your hip like a heterosexual life-vest doesn't mean anything. Getting hit on should be taken as a compliment. For Straight Women: The gays love you, but remember if you are going to a primarily gay-catered event your usual bag of tricks are useless (AKA cleavage, winks, sweet talk). If you are going to a primarily lesbian-catered event, by all means feel free to use any and ALL tricks in your book. For the gay bars/events, yes the go-go dancers all look like a Greek god just fell from the sky, but that doesn't mean you're the only living being that can appreciate their beauty. NEVER attempt to squeeze through a crowd of gay men to get a better look, because you will most likely be the victim of either fashion or makeup criticism. See more advice from VICE HERE!
