St. Brendan the Navigator – The Patron Saint of Sailors (May 16). Brendan is most famous for his journey to The Isle of the Blessed, during which he allegedly landed on an island that was actually a giant sea monster in disguise. There are many appropriate ways to observe St. Brendan’s Feast Day, but it is hard not to notice the day’s proximity to Fleet Week.
