Have lunch or dinner at B&H dairy bar in the East Village. It's a vegetarian place, and like it, there's Stage Restaurant across the street. B&H makes challah bread to die for. If you go for breakfast, have the challah french toast. There are about four tables, it's a tiny restaurant, the whole place is about as wide as an Upper East Side bathroom. It would definitely be worth taking a cab downtown for challah french toast. Or, for lunch, they have about 10 different vegetarian soups they make in the kitchen, and they go through dozens of loaves of challah bread a day. All the soups come with challah bread.Across the street is Stage restaurant, and it's straight-up Polish. So they make their blintzes and pierogies, but they also make a mean cheeseburger.
