The company’s name suggests its roots in NYC style. Where do you find inspiration for your collections in NYC and beyond?Every season, we have to come up with new names for our shoes. And it’s so impossible, because we’ve been doing this now for seven years. What we do is, Barri and I just get a feel for what’s out there, what’s going on in fashion. But we also look towards a lot of things that have always inspired us. So our running theme in our shoe line is that a lot of it is retro-inspired. So we pick a movie that sort of represents that season’s collection. And we IMDB the movie and look up every single character name in that movie, and that’s how we end up naming our shoes.But yeah, New York City is a big influence. Just what people are wearing on the streets, and bloggers and blogs... New York is a great place to be if you’re in fashion, so we get a lot of great inspiration from just walking around and seeing what people are wearing in their everyday lives.Because our shoes aren’t complicated, either. They’re for every day. They’re to wear to work and then to wear out at night. And some shoes are special, and only to wear at certain times, but most of them are just supposed to last throughout the day and throughout the years.[Photo via]
