The Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala: June 14
To kick off the week's events, the 43rd annual
Songwriters Hall of Fame will be hosted tonight. The songwriters being inducted include, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Seger, Don Schlitz, Harvey Schmidt & Tom Jones and Jim Steinman. There will also be four individuals receiving awards including: Bette Midler will be receiving the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award;
Ne-Yo will be receiving the Hal David Starlight Award. Lance Freed will be presented with the Abe Olman Publisher Award and Woody Guthrie will be receiving the first Pioneer Award. The song, "Stand By Me," will be presented with the Towering Performance Award.
Guests expected to attend include

John Mayer,
John Legend, John Rzeznik,
Jason Mraz,
Taylor Swift and
Drake.
