Phoenix Loves New York, Will Play Secret Show Thursday Night

by BILLY GRAY · November 30, 2009

Phoenix can't get enough of New York. And New Yorkers can't get enough of Phoenix. The indie rockers will grace us with their maddeningly catchy music on Wednesday at the Hammerstein Ballroom (with similarly irresistible opener Passion Pit). Even more exciting: the gang will play a "secret" show on Thursday, at 7pm, courtesy of IHeartRadio.

    -

This will be the band's third major swing through NYC this year, following two June gigs (one at Music Hall of Williamsburg, the other at Terminal 5) and a pair of sold out September shows in Central Park. I can vouch for Phoenix's stellar live performances having been at the T-5 show. The band's stage energy is just as infectious as its music and they drove the crowd crazy.

See it for yourself by entering to win tickets here. The Thursday show is invite only (and Wednesday's is sold out). While trivia might not be a part of the contest, there are some things you should know about Phoenix:

-They are French, despite mostly English lyrics

-They went to high school with members of Daft Punk and Air, making Versailles relevant for something found outside of history books.
