7. BUBBLY

Say no to this: Ok, there's nothing TECHNICALLY wrong with a glass of champagne or prosecco, BUT...isn't French 75 more fun to say?
Get this instead: French 75

Rumor has it that Scottish barkeep Harry MacElhone concocted this sweet sipper in 1915, naming it for its adverse effect, which he compared to getting hit by a 75mm French artillery shell. Appealing. Equal parts gin and simple syrup (one ounce each) are combined in a shaker along with fresh lemon juice, then shaken with ice and strained into a flute, and ultimately topped with champagne. Garnish is always a nice, curly lemon twist. You'll be tossing these back faster than you can say "not basic."
