3. The Walton Family

Being the heir to the Walmart fortune may not sound so glamorous, but trust us, when there's $152 billion to your name, it really doesn't matter how you made your money. Credit where credit is due, however: Sam Walton built his retail industry back in the '40s and '50s. In 1962, he opened up the very first Walmart store and since then has revolutionized the industry. After all, Walmart is the largest non-government employer in the world.
