Traveling Tourists

Traveling TouristsWe love that people flock from far and near to our beautiful city, but learning the subway system is like reading hieroglyphics. You can pretend you understand what's going on, tell your friends you think you're right, and feel extremely awkward when you're so off base that there's no turning back. Literally. Once you get on the wrong subway, and you don't know how any of the subways function, you are so screwed it's ridiculous. Do not just assume that the subway that just arrived is the one you should take while you hold onto your massive camera and map of New York for dear life. It definitely isn't, and as much as us commuters like hearing you scream and cry in another language where we have no idea how to help, it's best to ask at the nearest information booth on how to get to your destination. Do not wait until you're on your way to the 12-minute-each-stops to Queens when you meant to go to the West Village. You're holding a lot of people up by standing in between the door and the platform deciding what to do. [Photo by @ang.kusinero]
