The Jane Hotel

Location: The Jane Hotel, 113 Jane Street

History: The Jane Hotel in Greenwich Village was known in 1908 as the American Seaman's Friends Society Sailor's Home and Institute. In 1912, the survivors and surviving crew members of the Titanic occupied The Jane until the end of the American Inquiry into the ship's sinking. It was also the place where the crew held a special memorial service four days after the tragedy to honor those who died that tragic night.

Haunted Happenings: The spirits of the Titanic crew and passengers are known to haunt the Jane Hotel. Guests of the hotel have reported seeing transparent figures, hearing sobbing and distressing moans of grief. This is especially terrifying for us GofG-ers, because um, we work here!
