JWT
Company: JWT is one of the world's largest advertising agencies. They have been progressive since day one by pioneering the testimonial ad, hiring the first female creative director (Peggy Olsen), opening the first International office, and creating the first television commercial. Their clients include Bloomberg, Energizer, Johnson & Johnson, and more. They have over 200 offices in 90 countries. Opened: 1864 Global CEO: Bob Jeffrey Employees: estimated 10,000 The office: The company headquarter was designed to accommodate one thousand employees in the New York office throughout five floors. The office was modeled after a tree with branches because of its story-telling symbolism. The staircase represents the trunk, then from the first floor on it opens up into double-height floors. The treehouse's open mezzanine is used for creative work and collaborating. DEGW and Clive Wilkinson Architects are behind the concept that intends to get people talking and entice new clients to schedule meetings. Some of the quirky perks are walls lined with references to pop culture trends, 'meeting tents' with a novel's opening line, and curated art on each floor. Wise Words: "As we spend ever more time in the digital world, what’s becoming increasingly valued is the time we do not spend in front of a screen—the time we spend with real people and real things." "As digital screens become our default interface with the world, we seem to increasingly seek out physical objects and experiences." -Ann Mack, Director of Trendspotting at SXSWi [Photos via]
