Thrillist
= Company: Thrillist.com, or Thrillist Media Group, is the leading online men's lifestyle brand, aggregating and displaying stories in food, drink, entertainment, nightlife, gadgets, gear, and travel to nearly 3 million subscribers in the United States and United Kingdom. CEO: Ben Lerer Opened: 2004 Employees: 155 (Jobs added this year: 125) The office: The Thrillist office is the frattiest house off of Greek Row. Its "come-one-come-all" atmosphere has little hierarchy but its does have a jagermeister tap, a blackjack table, a portrait rug of the executive editor, a branded toilet, pool table, and "Wheel of Lunch" to make that pesky decision for you. Future: What began as an email newsletter now generates $40 million in revenue. Their JackThreads app brought in 45% of the companies revenue this year and they have launched a Thrillist Rewards program. Wise Words: "One thing that we preach at work all day long is “don’t hope.” What that means is don’t wait for somebody to do something for you. Don’t rely on luck. You have to make your own luck...There’s no way to point fingers, when you’re just four or five people, and you have to will everything yourself." -Ben Lerer to NYTimes [Photos via]
