This Upper West Side museum has a taste of culture, science, politics, ecology, and…well, history. With 4 floors, 45 permanent halls, and over 32 million pieces, this museum has it all, and there’s no way you could possibly see it all in one visit. However, check out New York City Travel’s
visitor tips and AMNH’s
self-guided tour to make sure you stay on track and see all the highlights. NYC Travel named the
top 8 permanent AMNH exhibits, which includes the world’s largest collection of dinosaur fossils (see
here and
here),
ocean life (with a 94’ model of a blue whale), and a hands-on
mineral collection with over 90,000 specimens. Current temporary exhibits include the
Science of Natural Disasters,
Spiders Alive, and
Countdown to Zero: Defeating Disease. General admission for adults is $22. If you’re a history buff, you definitely won’t want to miss this one.
