Last night, at the Jumeirah Essex House, the Harlem Academy awarded screenwriter Geoffrey S. Fletcher for Excellence. The cocktail party was to raise money for the prestigious school, which offers gifted children from Harlem an opportunity to explore their potential.
The event included both an awards ceremony and a live auction. Among the items that were auctioned were jewelry, theater and sports tickets, and resort vacations.
The Harlem Academy is an independent school that offers a sliding tuition. They work with each family individually to offer as much scholarship as possible, and choose a tuition that the family can afford. Last night's event makes this opportunity possible.
