Special Screening of "For No Good Reason" Hosted by Jann Wenner

Where: AMC Loewes 19th St & Red Bull Studios Other details: Last night saw a special screening of "For No Good Reason," a documentary about the life of Gonzo illustrator Ralph Steadman. A close friend and former partner of the late, great, Hunter S. Thompson, Steadman is responsible for the iconic drawings that brought so many of Thompson's works, including Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, to life. Put together over a course of 15 years by director Charlie Paul, the doc is a hilarious and inspiring look into the mind and life of an extraordinary artist, featuring interviews of Steadman by Johnny Depp, and found footage of the artist's adventures with Thompson. The after party, which began promptly after the screening, was held at Red Bull Studios, where an impressive exhibition of Steadman's pieces greeted guests. Founder of Rolling Stone, Jann Wenner was in attendance, goofing around with the very playful Steadman in front of some of his art, while thirsty attendees enjoyed Flying Dog beer, which, coincidentally (or not-so-coincidentally) uses labels designed by Steadman himself.
