Guests descended to the basement at Neuehouse, where they celebrated with Pundole's diverse friends. Hoteliers Ian Schrager and Carlos Couturier, writer Derek Blasberg, artist Vashite Kola, and editor Tenzin Wild all came to the event to celebrate and enjoy drinks. A live Cuban band performed as people enjoyed delectable Corzo cocktails and bites like salmon tartar with wasabi tobiko on cucumber and lobster and avocado with yuzu creme friache. The event also marked the first annual A Hotel Life awards, with the nominees and winners displayed in a small screening room. Derek Blasberg showed up to celebrate his victory for Air Miles Hero, a fiercely competitive category, with nominees including frequent flyers Waris Ahluwalia and DJ Jus Ske. Social media whiz Steven Rojas showed up with Grandlife Hotel's president Tony Fant, following their win in the Best Social Media Engagement Category. Rojas used his signature charm to get Pavia Rosati and Roy Alpert to pose with their brands, Fathomaway.com (Best Travel Inspired Blog) and The Freehand (Best Budget Hotel or Hostel), respectively, amusingly projected on their bodies. Pundole made sure to highlight the entertaining nature of the awards by creating the category Best Hotel That's Not Really A Hotel, with the winner naturally being The Grand Budapest Hotel.
