Other details: This year's celebration honored Robert De Niro for his longtime support of the arts. Champagne in hand, guests explored the sprawling studio and congratulated the artists, who continued to paint, sculpt, sketch, and create throughout the night. Every floor featured a different kind of musical entertainment, with such varying instruments as guitars, cellos, xylophones, ukeleles, and even a glow-in-the dark accordion. There were surprises at every turn. Masked ladies modeled jewelry by Von Cleef, one of the Ball's sponsors, while bodyguards kept a vigilant watch on their diamond-studded charges. On the top floor, guests could literally jump into the artwork, and pose inside live recreations of famous paintings such as Magritte's "The Son of Man."
