Harvey Milk

In 1977, Harvey Milk earned a seat as city supervisor in San Francisco, the first openly gay man to do so, and not without a remarkably admirable journey on his way up, which was fought alongside thousands of supporters in the movement to not only defend gay rights but to obliterate the systematic persecution and maltreatment from which the crusade stemmed.
