Former Employees Dish On Eleven Madison Park's Vegan "Shit Show"

by Guest of A Guest · June 14, 2022

It's been just over a year since Eleven Madison Park emerged from the pandemic, transforming itself into the city's most overpriced vegan spot. Well, mostly vegan.

And let's just say that the drama must be the most popular off-menu dish!

Despite a 50,000 person long waitlist to dine in the restaurant's once hallowed halls, many fancy foodies were so not on board for the new vegetable-focused menu... to say the least.

Next, there was the news of a secret meat room, where rich private dining customers could exclusively enjoy non-vegan meals. Definitely not a great look considering their renewed mission of "the immediate positive impact that this way of eating can have on both our bodies and the planet."

And now, as revealed in a new report by Business Insider, former employees are sharing what a "shit show" the restaurant has apparently become in recent days.

Certainly one wouldn't expect issues like low wages, 80-hour weeks, and understaffing at one of the world's most expensive restaurants (which currently charges $335 per person).

And that vegan menu? Well, turns out that might not be as clean or premium as one would imagine.

Rather than working directly with farmers to source produce, a bulk of the restaurant's food seems to be coming from large delivery companies. And as one Business Insider source put it, the kitchen philosophy seems to be "farm to trash," with much food being wasted despite the restaurant's pledge to sustainability.

Clearly, something is written in the state of Humm, no?

Perhaps Netflix's Bad Vegan will get a second series.
