Alberto Gonzalez is "changing the world one meal at a time", and his passion is contagious. Last Thursday I was blown away by the native Argentinean's 100% Organic restaurant, GustOrganics on 6th avenue. I first became aware of GustOrganics when I heard word that it was the only place in NYC to serve an entirely organic menu with a full organic beers, wines, and cocktails all created exclusively for the restaurant. Alberto's passion: to provide 100% organic dishes at reasonable prices that taste good, has helped him become the first 100 % USDA Certified Organic Restaurant in NYC and the nation's first restaurant to use 100% Certified Organic ingredients.
Everything from the soy ink used on the menus, to the 100% recycled toilet paper, to the server's uniforms, to the wind energy and solar lighting powering the place, GustOrganics refuses to cut corners when it comes to bringing organics and sustainability to real life and we applaud their efforts.
During our stay we tried the Cucumber Pepino drink and the Basil Daiquiri. Both were delicious. For dinner we shared an Organic Empanada, a wheat Organic Pizza, and the Buenos Aires Style Steak. If when you think "organic" you think "bland", get ready to be pleasantly surprised at GustOrganics. Topping everything off with a fruit/chocolate fondue tray, we were happy campers on leaving.
GustOrganics is open for Breakfast, Lunch, Brunch and Dinner. They also have a full delivery and take out menu and the only fully organic bar where on Friday and Saturdays this winter they will be featuring 2 for 1 drinks. Go in and tell Alberto hello after thanking him for finally providing us with some affordable organic dishes.
