Breaking News: Louis Vuitton Just Brought Back Freds At Barneys!

by Stephanie Maida · October 13, 2022

It's unlikely that the New York style set will ever stop mourning the loss of Barneys, but, thanks to Louis Vuitton, the fashion world has a chance to revisit the bygone locale - and its beloved 9th-floor eatery, Freds!

Yes, power lunch is officially back at the Madison Avenue destination, where Freds has been resurrected (albeit for a limited time) as part of Louis Vuitton's 200 Trunks, 200 Visionaries exhibition.

The travelling extravaganza - which gives new meaning to the term "trunk show" - has finally landed in New York for the last stop of its tour celebrating Louis Vuitton’s bicentennial birthday. And what better place to showcase the house's iconic accessories than at the former home of the designer retail mecca?

The buzzy exhibition will be open at the original flagship Barneys space through the end of December, where guests also have the chance to mingle over luxurious lunch bites and aperitifs at the reimagined Freds x Louis restaurant. With help from the original team at Freds, the pop-up has brought back the spot's most famous menu items along with its signature posh atmosphere and some special Louis Vuitton-branded flourishes.

Call it a homecoming, or a walk down memory lane - either way, it's clearly the most fashionably nostalgic way to spend the day.
