Thank God - Maialino Is Set To Make A Comeback This Fall!

by Stephanie Maida · July 18, 2022

ICYMI, the Gramercy Park Hotel, the glamorous watering hole frequented by rock stars, Hollywood legends, and literary greats over the past century, has been locked in a legal battle since shutting its doors at the beginning of the COVID pandemic in 2020.

And while the fate of the legendary locale still remains up in the air, we do have a very exciting update regarding the hotel's beloved Italian restaurant, Maialino.

Helmed by Danny Meyer, the upscale Roman trattoria first debuted on the property in 2009, quickly becoming a favorite of fancy foodies, A-listers, and just about anyone in the mood to treat themselves to a plate of very good pasta (or ricotta pancakes, if we're talking brunch).

Unfortunately, the shuttering of the hotel has also led to the "temporary closure" of the rustic eatery, and New Yorkers have had no choice but to hold their breaths... until now.

This week it was announced that Maialino will finally be making a comeback, albeit at a temporary location inside the Redbury Hotel. The resurrected spot will be dubbed Maialino (vicino), which translates to "nearby," and promises to "bring the familiar warmth and energy of the Gramercy Park original" to its new home inside the Redbury's Vini e Fritti and Caffe Marchio spaces.

It may not be the OG, but we're definitely not complaining (especially if they bring back the pancakes!).
