Trailblazer: Lena Dunham (Hannah)
No one has changed the path for young women in television as much as Lena Dunham. The 27 year old powerhouse wrote, directed, and starred in her first movie "Tiny Furniture," which essentially served as a prequel to her HBO hit series "Girls." Dunham's movie received attention and accolade from Judd Apatow, who now produces the show.
Many have deemed "Girls" as what the characters of "Sex and the City" would've been like in their twenties, if they were millennials like us. This, in many ways, is true: four girls, living in New York (Brooklyn, to be exact), each of whom have their own quirky styles and personalities. What's different about this series, however, is how realistically it captures the life of a 20 something year old trying to make it in such a competitive city like New York. "Girls" makes those fresh-out-of-college girls feel a bit less alone, and helps us navigate through our changing relationships and friendships.
