Peter Beard Mixed Media Photograph “Get off My Cloud/Memory Motel”, 1977
Containing all the elements that Beard is so well known for - images of African elephants, women, paint, collage, handwriting, double-exposure, and in this case an image of Mick Jagger from 1972. Beard was along for the ride with The Stones on their 1972 American tour and became quite close with them - especially Mick. Beard has written the lyrics to the The Rolling Stones 1976 song "Memory Motel" at the top and along the left edge, and the lyrics to their 1965 hit song, "Get Off My Cloud" along nearly the remaining entire left edge of the piece. Beard gifted this piece to Daniela Luna as inscribed at the bottom.
