They use "I was joking" a LOT
If you're naturally a goofball who has a sense of humor and quick wit, "I was joking" is acceptable because there are times where they can be rude or go too far. Hey, it happens! But if the person you're dating lacks a sense of humor and has never provided anything from a dirty joke to some witty wordplay, it's actually kind of weird that they have to invoke the "I was joking" line so often. Like, if you catch them hyping themselves up to the point of hyperbole or just straight up lying, if they say, "I was joking," that's a total cop out. Why's that? Because they definitely wouldn't have minded if you truly believed their bullshit.
