Just ghost him!
This might just be the most convenient route if you really don't want to go out with the guy. Block his phone number, block him on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat. You get the picture. Let's just hope he doesn't have your email because that would be awkward (and just kind of creeper status). Sometimes ghosting early in the game is just easier than lying your way out.
