How To Break Up With Someone (& Deal With The Aftermath)

So, you clearly weren’t totally ready for the friend thing and you hooked up one night. Unless you both want to get back together, I would avoid doing that at all costs. Casually hooking up with an ex is a total lie. It just means that one person is horny and the other just really wants to be back together. 

It doesn’t mean that everything has to be messed up at all. Relax! Nothing is that dramatic and crazy. Just take it easy and slow. Everyone is all over the place emotionally. Talk about it, but then give it some space - which, mind you, is very different from ghosting. Just try group settings like going to parties together, without drinking too much. If you still hold negative feelings, you can’t be friends. It’s that simple.
