The Non-Alcoholic Cocktails Posh Brits Are Obsessed With

by Christie Grimm · May 22, 2017

While the words "non-alcoholic" don't exactly scream "life of the party," across the pond, everybody and their grandmother as of late has been jumping on the bandwagon when it comes to Seedlip, the world's first non-alcoholic spirits.

"Solving the dilemma of what to drink when you're not drinking," people love this stuff so much, they're not ordering it as a 'mocktail' placeholder, but going out to bars and drinking it just because. Beyond being truly tasty, the spirits are also bizarrely healthy for you - at least, much healthier than any other drink you'd likely order. Sugar free. Sweetener free. No calories. No artificial flavors.

Pretty game changing, no? Well, as turns out, this shtick's not exactly new. Back in the 1600s, apothecaries were using small copper stills to make non-alcoholic herbal remedies. Today, that similar distillation method's just being executed by Seedlip founder, Ben.

So, what are their two top selling, award winning spirits? First, there's Spice 94, described as having an earthy, woody nose, with flavors of spice, cardamom, oak, lemon and grapefruit. And while you can totally shoot it back college style, perhaps you should give it a go with some tonic water, and a red grapefruit twist.

Next up is Garden 108. Think herbal, grassy, floral notes, with a refreshing taste of spearmint, rosemary and thyme. Again, grab yourself a splash of tonic water, and hey, in keeping with the garden theme, why not a handful of peas?

All in all, the possibilities are endless. Switch things up with different mixers, teas - brines even! From a Seedlip & Tonic to their classic martini, take a flip through for all of the cocktail concoctions that'll have you sipping sans the headache!
