Jon Savage
Any favorite teenage memories? Jon Savage: I was a dreamy, sulky teenager, who really enjoyed listening to strange music and reading weird books…. But I did go to see The Who in 1969 in a very small church hall, seaside town in the south of England and they had all their gear for a festival. It was a warm-up day for a festival…. And it was so brilliant. And I had my body chemistry altered by the electricity. What inspired you to turn your book into a film? And what did you learn in the process? JS: Well, I had written this book and had spent seven years on it and wanted to maximize it. And what I found really surprising in the research process was that what I had written in the book, I was actually seeing on screen. And that was amazing. [Photo: Jon Savage via]
