Divest
Rather than forcing US industries to become more deeply involved in problems abroad, encourage divestment. Many of the deep set issues in foreign countries are caused by American investments in corrupt industries and policies that uproot local economies and environments. Programs like voluntourism steal jobs from local workers and create attachment disorders in children who are passed from stranger to stranger. So, don't be part of the problem, find your niche and do some real work.
