Last month, the selection of critics from New York-based publications making up the New York Film Critics Circle made their picks for the best in film in 2008. The ceremony, held Monday night at NYC's Strata, hosted a guest list of winners including Sean Penn and Josh Brolin for their roles in Gus Van Sant's latest film Milk which was also awarded Best Film by the Critics Circle. Other winners included Penelope Cruz for her role in Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Anthony Dod Mantle for his stunning cinematographic work on Slumdog Millionaire, and legendary tight rope walker, Philip Petit, whos film Man On Wire took home the award for best documentary. Hmmm...could these wins predict next week's Golden Globes turn out?
