11. Cool Tour Options

11. Other Cool NYC Tour Options I've never been on a single one of the tours below, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to spend a spare afternoon (ha who has those!) learning more about this fantastic city. Here's a list of options for you lucky tourists who have all the free time in the world to take part in these tours: The Classic New York Double-Decker Bus Tour [INFO] Yes, we residents will watch you and scoff as you pass us by as we are trying to enjoy our lunch outside at our favorite sidewalk cafe, but who cares?! This three hour tour is totally one of the best ways to see the city, esp if you don't have a friend who lives here that has a car. Go on the first day you arrive and try to get a feel for North and South. The Enthusiastic Gourmet Tours. [INFO] If you're a foodie looking for adventure, this is a great place to start. Focusing on the unique cuisines offered in China town, the Lower East Side and Little Italy, there are over 10 distinct Asian cuisines to try; 500 restaurants, bakeries and tea shops to explore. There's no dog on the menu (to my knowledge), but you probably shouldn't bring your picky eaters on this. The "Elegant Tightwad Tour." [INFO] You must make it inside the stores lining 5th avenue/Madison Aveune/soho etc. when you are here just to see them. But making purchases inside may be tough for you, especially if you spent all of your money on your plane ticket/hotel and broadway tickets. I just learned about this shopping tour, that takes you around to some of the best designer consignment shops in the city, and it seems like it could be a great option for women looking for NYC purchases without breaking their piggy banks. The Grand Central Terminal Tour. [INFO] It's still one of my favorite NYC landmarks. You are a moron if you miss checking out Grand Central Terminal. Built in 1913, the "whispering gallery" left me giggling the first time I experienced it. Check it out, as well as the iconic Oyster Bar. If you have the time, check out one of the tours offered. You won't be disappointed in the details found inside this building. New York TV and Movie Tour. [INFO] From Sex and the City, to Gossip Girl, to the Sopranos, NYC has been synonymous with "best on screen settings" over the years. It's the stage for hundreds of blockbusters, films, tv shows and more. These tours will reveal many of the spots made famous on the big screen. See the restaurant that was used in Spiderman or where Holly Golightly always dreamed of having her morning meal in Breakfast At Tiffany's. NYC Hip Hop Tour. [INFO] Hip Hop has come a long way from its underground NYC roots. This tour explores over three decades of musical history.  Guests are indulged in the four elements of hip hop: DJing, MCing, B-boy/B-girl dance techniques, and graffiti artistry. For the really adventurous, take a helicopter tour around the city. Liberty Helicopters is still chartering people around the island. But, after last week's crash, I'm not sure I would be keen on joining you for this one. [INFO]
